An impressive Jewish Star sits in the middle of this eye catching pendant with The Priestly Blessing engraved around the edge. The Priestly Blessing, (Birkat Kohanim), also known as Nesiat Kapayim, (literally: Raising the Hands), is a Jewish prayer recited by Kohanim (Cohens) during certain Jewish prayer services. It is based on a scriptural verse, "They shall place My name upon the children of Israel, and I Myself shall bless them." Aaron (Moses' brother -- the first Cohen) and his sons bless the Israelites with this blessing. It consists of the following biblical verses (Numbers 6:24-26) and hangs from a substantial sterling silver chain.:

Yivarechecha Adonai v'yishmarecha
May G-d bless you and watch over you

Ta'er Adonai panav eleicha v'yechunecha
May G-d make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you

Yisa Adonai panav eleicha v'yasem lecha shalom
May G-d lift up his face onto you and give you peace
