Gorgeous wedding plaque with words from the Song of Solomon, "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine." A tube is mounted on the front to hold the broken wedding glass from the wedding ceremony. The plaque is accented with dichroic glass and metallic dust and mounted on a glass base. Each piece by Sara Beames is cut and then fired in a kiln at 1,400F. At this temperature, the pieces of glass literally fuse, the edges round, and the surfaces take on a brilliant gloss. The art of fusing glass dates back 4,000 years to the Middle East.
Sara Beames has always loved working with her hands. While working on her BA in Art History, she was exposed to designing architectural stained glass, and since then, glass has been her love and her avocation.
