A Kosher scroll is handwritten by a scribe on parchment paper. It is written by a trained scribe, known as a sofer, using special black ink and a quill pen. Every letter and word must be correct.

The mezuzah contains the first two paragraphs of the Shema prayer. The mezuzah is a daily reminder of Jewish identity and faith.
